Many years ago, well in www ages is like that; people said that the internet would transform the knowledge. The are still some old ones that believe in that. But they say with the same convIction based on no time surfing the web.
Everybody can write, post or blog about everything.
When I was a kid we have to use encyclopedias to look for any info we needed or wanted. Today you can google it, wikipedia it; but;
1. Who is writing about nuclear physics? Does he or she has a MIT Phd.?
2. Or is some new age, occultist saying not the truth but what you would like to be the truth.
So it doesn’t meter about who did what, where; but the hole idea of questioning. Doubting. The method of doubt; why? Not because make somebody miserable under the universe is going to make you happy; but because is going to work out your brains.
That’s the hole idea, work out your brains.
So in addition to learn you should be able do doubt what you have just learned. As Orega y Gassed said an many before him.
So the internet is ok for those of us who are paper based educated, started with a 128k computer and then, only then, bought some gadget that could theoretical drive the space shuttle although I don’t know the math do land the eagle.
I fear for the little ones that are not paper based because:
PRESSING YOUR THUMB AGAINS YOUR FORE FINGER STIMULATES CERTAIN AREAS OF YOUR BRAIN THAT ARE NOT WHEN YOU ARE IN FRONT OF A KEY BOARD. CERTIFIED BY SINTIGRAPHYS AND MRI.
It works the same way when you teach music and chess and Latin to children in school which in my opinion should be mandatory all over the world; for future generations sake.
We have some good stuff in the internet but also some poor one, perhaps like it always was all over the time. Perhaps my generation expectations where to high; anyway I would be glad to contribute with some tolls, for the young just connect the dots in the future.
